OUR SON DIED FOR THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM

GOD'S SON DIED TO SET YOU FREE FROM YOUR SIN

Al and JoAnn Isaak

Gary Isaak was killed in action on
20 December 1989 during OPERATION
JUST CAUSE while combating the
Panamanian Defense Forces.

Just hours before he faced the enemy,
he wrote this letter to his parents:

Mom & Dad, if you receive this letter you'll know that I died in combat protecting our country and the freedoms we hold so dear. I want you to know that I do believe Jesus is my Saviour and I will be in Heaven to meet you. I don't blame you for anything I might have done wrong in my life. No one could have asked for better parents and examples to follow. I only wish I would have told you this more often. So I'll say it now. I love you both very much and Sharlene and Lori too. You all made a very positive influence in my life even though I might not have let you know. I love you all. Gary

Several Comments in Gary's Letter
Will Eventually Affect You and Me Forever

FIRST OF ALL, GARY DIED

Whether you die in combat as Gary did or of old age, you will die one day, and no one but God knows when that will be.

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."
HEBREWS 9:27

GARY DIED VOLUNTARILY FOR OUR FREEDOMS

Gary joined the Marine Corps and volunteered his service to his God and country as a member of the Armed Forces of America. He willingly gave his life the morning he died while combating enemy forces to ensure America will remain the "Land of the Free and Home of the Brave." Likewise, the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ voluntarily died for you on an old wooden cross at a place called Calvary. By giving up his life, he paid the ultimate sacrifice for the sin of the world, and He conquered death and sin forevermore.

"No man taketh it (my life) from me, but I lay it down of myself."
JOHN 10:18

GARY KNEW THAT GOD LOVED HIM

Gary loved his parents and family very much. Likewise, he knew that God loved him so much that He sent Jesus Christ, His Son, to die for his sin. God loves you and wants to rescue you from your sin.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
JOHN 3:16

GARY KNEW THE TRUTH ABOUT HIS PROBLEM OF SIN

The Bible is absolute truth and tells us that Jesus Christ can set you free from sin. Gary confessed that he was a sinner and could not blame his parents for his wrongdoings. He knew that his sin was against God and that God would judge him one day. You and I also have a problem with sin. We are born with a sin nature that only Christ can take away.

"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
ROMANS 3:23

GARY KNEW ABOUT THE PENALTY FOR HIS SIN

Gary knew that he would have to live somewhere forever. The Bible tells us that there is a penalty for sin.it is death and separation from God forever. If you continue in your sin, your name will not be found in the "book of life" nor will you go to heaven.

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
REVELATION 20:15

GARY RECEIVED JESUS CHRIST AS HIS PAYMENT FOR SIN

As an eight-year-old boy, Gary accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior by receiving Him into his heart. At that point in time, he was saved (rescued from the lake of fire), he was given eternal life in Heaven and he became a member of God's family. Salvation is a free gift from God. Gary did not earn his way to Heaven by fighting for his country or by doing good things such as going to church, being baptized or taking communion. Salvation only comes by confessing your sin to God, asking Him to forgive you of your sin, and receiving His Son, Jesus Christ, by faith as your personal Savior.

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of
God, even to them that believe on his name."
JOHN 1:12

GARY KNEW HE WOULD GO TO HEAVEN WHEN HE DIED

Gary knew that he would meet his family in Heaven one day because he was saved by receiving Christ as his Savior. One moment Gary was in the hot, humid weather of Panama and the next moment he was in the perfect environment of Heaven. One moment he was experiencing the intense emotions of war and the next moment he was in the presence of God. The Bible tells us that you can know you would be in heaven if you were to die today.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
I JOHN 5:13

IF YOU WERE TO DIE TODAY,
ARE YOU 100% SURE THAT YOU WOULD GO TO HEAVEN?

Have you come to a point in your life where you are willing to turn from your unbelief and sinful way to God? Will you at this moment call upon the name of the Lord and receive Jesus Christ by faith as your personal Saviour? If so, pray this prayer and mean it from your heart:

"Dear God, I am a lost sinner and need to be saved! I believe the Lord Jesus Christ died to save me; I am asking you to forgive me and to cleanse me from my sin. I am placing my faith and trust in you this very moment, and I receive you as my personal Savior and Lord. Thank you for giving me eternal life. Amen."

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED."
ROMANS 10:13

"Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near."
ISAIAH 55:6

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
